Re: Wegman's Ends Self-checkout Due To Theft

I’ve very rarely seen anyone use these things anywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if Wegmans was being disingenuous about the reason—-the business press is better Than it used to be but it still lets large successful businesses say whatever without fact checking. Blaming stuff on shoplifting is easie...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Keep an eye out in stores - I wound up in one yesterday that happened to have one box of sweetener left from the Wild Harvest (in an area where all the clearance items are). Took it since it would have been fairly cheap anyway at 75% off, but when scanned it rang up FREE. Perhaps they just did that...

Re: Starbucks To Open 2,000 Stores By 2025

Maybe you don't see it in your region but I see it in many regions I travel to. There is a LOT of new competition for Starbucks. Customers are gravitating to that competition. For instance, Dutch Bros. absolutely rules the afternoon/evening. Not sure how busy they are in the morning but they are do...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Noticed the Wild Harvest Food area has been replaced with an assortment of Hispanic food products, primarily very low cost, in very low quantities. I am not sure how well this will sell. These items have very long shelf lives so it will not spoil out the way the Wild Harvest stuff was. Much lower i...

Re: Walmart Restrooms Closed, Porta Potties Brought In

I was at a Walmart Neighborhood Market in San Ramon, California and both of the restrooms were closed. There were several Porta-potties out front. It was awful with bugs inside and it smelled. However, one Porta-potty was very spacious with a nice translucent roof so it was not totally dark inside....

Re: Sonic Operations

Maybe since they closed unusually early but still had employees there for a time (doing some type of major cleaning, maybe?), they just bagged up whatever was left over at the end of the day and gave it to the employees to take home when they did get to leave? Doing a drink would be pretty quick at...

Re: Bed Bath & Beyond: Dying?

Might or might not be intentional. Until they finish investigating it would be hard to tell. Could be something as simple as being upset with how things are going, having too much to drink then falling out a window or off the building due to being drunk! So, still connected to what was happening wit...

Re: Sonic Operations

This afternoon I was over in Sparks in the same parking lot as Sonic right at dinner and looking for somewhere to go. Saw Sonic and noticed it was deserved and they had crates and chairs blocking the drive through lane. Went over to investigate further and it was right at 6 PM. They had a sign up t...

Re: Walmart observations

I am not familiar with the laws in NJ. Can the person be charged? In parts of CA, they could not be charged with anything because that hand basket is not valued above $900 or whatever the amount is. They could be trespassed out of the store though... Theft is taking something that is NOT YOURS, no ...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Sunday, we had to abruptly shut down at 4 for the second straight day:our lone manager/supervisor opened and had no luck finding late relief, and the floating pharmacist (himself caught off guard) was having to apologize to a number of stunned customers. Sounds like they need to follow the model th...
