Re: Walmart observations

They do collect a bag fee now and from what I was told it's going to be NO BAGS and you need to bring your own reusable ones and the only ones they will have for purchase are the heavier canvas and or cloth bags. Most of NY does NOT require a fee for bags, but it doesn't mean the stores can't charg...

Re: Regal Cinemas parent Cineworld to file for bankruptcy

The theater check policy was many years ago. Hopefully, Regal has changed since then. It was quite awful. Regal took over many theater chains over the years: United Artists, Edward's Cinemas, and many regional chains. Some theaters managed to keep their old names and were not significantly modified...

Re: Albertsons 100% self-checkout pilot program at two locations

Stores are going to have to have at least 1 or 2 regular ones open. I was at a Kroger in the Oak Lawn neighborhood in Dallas recently. They have gone 100% self checkout. The younger people seemed to be doing relatively well but the older folks were really struggling. Very true and it can even happe...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Went to the location in Brattleboro, VT (in-line at a strip center next to a Market32/Price Chopper). Mid-afternoon on Saturday. Extremely busy pharmacy (at least 3 people working in the pharmacy) though rest of store was not hugely busy. Very friendly service; had completed their grocery reset. Bi...

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

Not sure if other stores have done that, but a couple CVS locations here simply added a small set of two rooms for doing vaccinations in place of a portion of a couple aisles in the store. Not actually attached to the pharmacy, the person doing them has to come out from behind the counter to walk i...

Re: Burger King Replaces Ch'King Sandwich With BK Royal Crispy Chicken Sandwiches

Agreed, won't get again. Got the spicy at a Carrol's nearby--it was perfectly serviceable but not for $5.79. Spicy/sweet dunk and a tangy ranch-type sauce with tomato/lettuce. In talking for a moment with the guy at the 1st menu, they had problems with skill level and consistency. He said some peop...

Only if you run the vehicle while waiting, which isn't needed much of the time.

Re: 2 New JCPenney Closings

1. Monmouth Mall JCPenney in Eatontown, NJ 2. The Shops at Fox River in Johnsburg, IL https://www.sb360.com/select-projects/events/ The NJ one that mall is getting redeveloped including some apartments being built, so that likely has as much (or more) to do with the closing than JC Penney itself.

Re: Rite Aid closing at least 63 stores

I think we would need to see the store in Tacoma to understand if they are just doing a pharmacy remodel or if there is more going on. If they are consolidating stores they may need a larger pharmacy. The legacy Payless Stores and Thrifty Stores (so Pay N Save there) had pharmacies that are, by tod...

Save Mart has price increased its 4ct Muffins to 5.49 (they have a 3.50 each price this week if you buy two packages; first time they've done this promotion with a minimum purchase requirement; I cannot go through 8 muffins before they expire so no sales from me on that this week). These are the be...
