Sycamore, Peoria and Bloomington, IL. Schnucks is in all three, too.
There aren't any Jewels in Peoria.
Considering Schnucks has struggled a bit lately (they outsourced pharmacy to CVS), will they ever be up for sale? If so, Ahold or Albertsons (once the IPO is over) could buy them.

Whether Schnucks is aware of it or not, outsourcing pharmacy is a bit of a poison pill for acquisitions in case Albertsons or Kroger came knocking. As for Ahold Delhaize, they haven't shown any interest in any acquisitions beyond their Northeastern core in years.

I am sure Schnucks is aware. I don't think they are for sale either... I think they will continue going along as they have.

We don't need to lose any more above average regionals anyway, which I would consider them to be, even if only slightly above average. Good fresh department and scratch bakery raise them above average.

I also wonder if supply chain was a bit of an issue here---there is not a great direct N/S route from St. Louis up to the Quad Cities (or Des Moines). E/W access on I-80 is a lot better, hence the Hy-Vee/Jewel presence.
