This Longs had a contract postal unit in the store for at least the past 20 years. CVS closed it effective 3/31 and there has been an extraordinary number of customer complaints.
The nearest real post office is within about a mile and a half, but is downtown so parking is kind of tight. There is another real post office about 5 minutes away in a different direction. Still, this little postal hole was very busy and popular among the ongoing group of elderly customers who shopped here. This contract postal unit did nothing but ship packages and sell postage; no postal boxes or anything.
This was NOT a Longs "Mailing Center" department as seen in some Longs from the late 90s.

Re: CVS closes Longs Contract Postal Unit
CVS seems to like to do things to really annoy customers. It's a great way to lose customers for life.
Pretty soon the stores will be more empty than Rite Aid.
