The only two Piggly Wiggly stores in Texas are closing. These two Denton, TX stores were owned by Affiliated Foods Southwest, Little Rock, Ark. AFS went bankrupt last month.
Piggly Wiggly, which continues to operate in the Southeast and Upper Midwest through licensing agreements, at one time was headquartered in Lewisville, Texas.

Associated Wholesale Grocery(AWG) of Kansas City has agreed to acquired AFS. This should result in fewer store closings and the expansion of AWG banners, particularly Price Chopper.
