This is actually the second time they have discontinued double coupons. Previously, starting in San Diego in 2005 then moving to all of Southern California in 2006, they discontinued double coupons.
Vons and Pavilions are the last chains in Southern California to (fulltime) double coupons. Albertsons still occasionally doubles coupons but you must have a paper double coupon presented along with a manufacturer coupon unlike Vons/Pavilions. Ralphs discontinued double coupons on April 1, 2012.
