WinCo passing on tax to Oregon customers

Post by SamSpade »

Portland voters passed a somewhat vague tax on gross receipts last November.

WinCo Foods is choosing to pass it on to customers in the city with a (reported maximum) fee of $0.15 per transaction.

Nevada has some sort of gross receipts tax that was questionably implemented too but I have not heard of any businesses passing it on to consumers in the form of an itemized charge...

It hits high revenue businesses particularly hard, though the percentage of the tax varies by business type.
