Renton Marina Safeway gets a Lifestyle Remodel

I have noticed the new brown tile around the perimeter of some stores and old white tiles in the middle aisles. The store that I visited yesterday had lumpy floor tiles. It is as if the floor was in terrible condition and they simply glued some tiles over an uneven old floor. Some Lifestyle stores have a mix of old freezers and some newer units. There are freezers with black plastic handles, older ones with black metal handles, and even older ones with silver colored metal handles.

Wow. I'm counting like 65 available parking spaces on that lot.

I'm betting one reason Safeway didn't expand this store, or do much to the exterior, is because it would have opened a big can of worms with the city relating to parking that didn't justify the store's projected business. There's an empty lot and what appears to be an abandoned building adjacent that they could have used for expansion or even a whole new store, assuming somebody's not sitting on those.

So they did the cheapest option instead.

At least they didn't just close it and leave the neighborhood.
