The Lenexa, KS store was a large store next to a major mall Oak Park Mall.
Kohl's has 3 other stores within close proximity to the closing store (Shawnee, Overland Park, and Olathe).
I think this may be an area where Kohl's is over stored and simply isn't drawing traffic to/from the mall (as the other 3 stores are closer to more "bedroom community" type areas).
