JCPenney to stop selling appliances

This was doomed from the start with limited brand selection, poorly placed departments in stores, and little to no staffing in those departments. JCPenney could have had a shot at making this successful if they executed this a little better.

It bugs me a little bit that JCPenney is being so secretive about which locations will close this time around.

The number of store closures probably needs to be much higher. This is probably just stores where leases will end in the next year or so.

Given how the company was run the last half of last year after the old CEO bolted for Lowes, I suppose the new management may be able to show some okay results this year just by at least sort of trying. But it probably won't solve the chain's problems.
