Okay, I remember that Art Deco building. It reminds me of the May Co. building in Los Angeles on Wilshire Blvd and I think Faifax Av., but not as grand.

Today was the final day of the liquidation at the downtown Macy's. As no surprise to readers here, not much was left. But, as a reminder, a touching anecdote about the great equalizer a store like Bon Marche really was.

I lived in Seattle for four years as a child and have many vivid memories of it in it's heyday as the Bon Marche. What I remember most was the furniture department which took up an entire floor (the top floor IIRC). It was set up as a maze of completely decorated and furnished rooms and you could literally get lost in there for hours.
