Tanning Salon Closures

In California, tanning salon closures have frustrated many customers. Marin County beaches and Ocean Beach in San Francisco were packed with people. They were sunning themselves and partying. People were not practicing social distancing. The little beach towns were gridlocked with traffic.

The authorities had to shut down most of the Point Reyes National Seashore.

On the other end, the Lake Tahoe area is packed with tons of Bay Area residents who are on what seems like a long vacation.

On Friday night, South Lake Tahoe was a literal morgue. Most restaurants are closed, all of the casinos are closed, all of the ski resorts are closed. I wonder if it got busier the past couple of days?
Looking at traffic cameras right now it still looks pretty dead.

I did notice some people doing cross country skiing along the various roads.

The City of South Lake Tahoe issued a "do not come" order on Friday night out to Sacramento/Bay Area.

My mistake, it was Bishop, California on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada range. An SFGate article told of crowds descending on the town this weekend. People are ignoring the shelter at home.

I talked to someone who went up to Lake Tahoe and into Truckee today, they said there were still quite a few people there.

Maybe on Friday night when I went to Lake Tahoe people were still digesting the "shelter in place" order. But when Mr. Gavin came out and said law enforcement would not actually enforce it with fines to people who were out for no reason (despite that it could be enforced), that was the end of many people taking it seriously I guess. I don't really know how you enforce it anyway. Some retailer employers did provide letters to CA employees to provide to law enforcement if stopped and asked why they were out, specifically Walgreens and CVS. So some were expecting this to be enforced.

I wondered that too. I actually paused on Friday before going up to Lake Tahoe, wondering- what if I am pulled in CA and questioned. But when I heard it wasn't being enforced, I said okay, may as well go. But I am going to stores, so I guess that is okay... even if the stores are an hour away...
