First Texaco Food Marts

Does anyone know if Texaco's first food marts (convenience stores) were actually part of their new 1981 "System 2000" modernization program, in which the earliest service stations built on this model used the color scheme of a Nintendo Entertainment System (that is: gray, black, red and white)?

I take this to mean: did Texaco begin adding their food store and car wash departments during the latter part of their "Matawan" days (1963-1981)?
