Wickes Lumber lives on...

Just passed one last night, complete with the original blue and red "W" logo. The chain seems to be going strong in the UK, with over 200 stores open.

Yeah, Wikipedia seems unaware that there were even U.S. locations, apparently. :)

Used to have one in my town. Seems that it went to the end of the chain, in what, 1992? I was never able to find a whole lot of information on it...

Sounds about right. I think they disappeared shortly after Builders Emporium in California (also owned by Wickes)
