When you go to Krispy Kreme you expect them to have the donuts you want in stock. If they don't carry the standard assortment, then they have lost customers possibly for life. No wonder this location is doing so poorly. You have to spend some money and keep those donuts in stock or else you lose all of your potential customers.

Luckily the Krispy Kreme near me in Concord, California has virtually all of the flavors. It used to be 24 hours via the drive thru until a few years ago. I miss that. Perhaps if business picks up they will expand the hours again.

After a few trips to the new Krispy Kreme in Sparks, which I keep asking myself why I go back, the answer is clear: that original glazed. It is really great. If it is hot, it is wonderful. If it isn't hot, it is still really good.

I am not happy with the lack of blueberry cake or chocolate cake but that is okay I guess.

Also if you can get an un-glazed filled donut it is pretty good in my opinion. So far I have only seen one in Sparks on one visit it had a white frosting and some oreo crumbs on top and some chocolate filling and it was also great.

But the other donuts- the ones they glaze then put some frosting or sprinkles on top of, the level of "sweet" is just too much for me.

The original glazed is pure donut heaven IMO I bet it counts for more than 90% of their product movement. everything else is just a side show.

From what I am observing it is probably about 70% of their movement. I am surprised it isn't higher.

I think they diluted their brand in the 00's selling in grocery stores and gas stations day-days old product.

That's not new - in fact if you read back to their founding, they were selling wholesale first. It was only when people kept stopping by the early production facility wanting to buy directly that they added a counter/window for direct to customer sales.

Also, at least in areas they were expanding to, more people likely encountered them in those "other" locations than at the actual Krispy Kreme store (for instance, here they opened one store in the entire area of several counties, so while some would make an effort to go there at least occasionally, they'd be far more likely to pick up the products they had heard about in a more local store/gas station/convenience location).

I have noticed driving by the new Krispy Kreme during various times of day/night mostly on weekends when everything else around is very busy, the place is deserted or has one or two cars. I stopped there recently and the staff wasn't even inside, they were all messing around out back and rushed inside when they saw me actually park and get out of my vehicle. They seem to think using the same glove to touch the donuts and then touch the cash register is OK, and they seem real upset when you tell them that is not OK. Must be trying to save money on gloves.

Their selection is terrible and prices are a complete joke for the product offered. The hot lamp is never on (given they have no customers I understand they do not need to make many donuts).

I expect this location to be out of business soon. Maybe WKS can convert it to an El Pollo Loco or one of their other concepts but they better operate it better. I'd say Denny's but that already failed across the highway.

That's sad. My most recent experience with KK in Burbank was just the opposite. There was a long line at drive through and the product quality was very good. The signature glazed donut was freshly made and the other flavors were very good, as well.

The glazed hot off the line is excellent. The last two times I was at this location when they were making donuts, they were trying to serve people glazed donuts from racks back behind the drive through rather than pulling them off the belt from the machine. I have never seen this before in many KK locations if a customer is inside when donuts are coming down the belt the customer always gets those donuts that are hot off the belt. Not at this location.

The other flavors are just too sweet; off puttingly so.

I did like their cake donuts but this location does not bother to make any cake donuts. They've never had any blueberry or chocolate cake but when they first opened they did have a glazed cake; now that is gone too.

I went to the WKS Vacaville location while in the area, hot light was on, even got a free donut. It was the opposite of Sparks.

Have you received a free donut during hot light in Sparks? When I asked about it during grand opening, I was told they did not offer that anymore.

I went into the Sparks location a couple days ago. App said hot light was on but of course it was not actually on and clearly they had not made any donuts in many hours. There was some promotion on 16 mini chocolate donuts for 7.99 that looked really good on the app but this place had only one type and it did not look anything like the pictures on the app; it looked worse than something I'd make (that is a very low bar). They have the main entry locked and only the door over by drive through is open to get inside. The person who helped me (teenager) was so disconnected she barely could even get a word out. When I paid I noticed the very long receipt printed with a survey on it, they took it and threw it in the trash. I asked for a receipt and they had to print another one, no survey came up on the reprint.

A few hours later maybe around 8:30 PM I drove by again and the location is supposedly open until 11 but inside was dark at that point, it is possible the drive through was open, as the employees were still inside.

Typically hot light is on during the evening hours. The old Krispy Kreme that used to be in Reno was a lot better than this Sparks one... I think they made a mistake, and should have tried to get a location in Reno again, near the previous one. The previous one failed due to issues with Krispy Kreme corporate back during the recession and also because the Las Vegas-based franchisee had a bad business plan doing wholesale donut sales heavily and driving a few racks of donuts out to random gas stations as far away as Battle Mountain every morning.

This is what happens when a franchisor gives the entire state as a territory to one franchisee... WKS was able to open Sparks because they bought out that Las Vegas franchisee's territory rights. That franchisee holds locations only within casinos now; their freestanding units went to WKS.

Same reason Five Guys has not gone beyond one location in Reno and the Carson location closed... a single Las Vegas franchisee was given rights to the whole state and Reno being a smaller and very distant market is always a stepchild for these Las Vegas-based franchisees.
