Starbucks cutting European operations, corporate workforce

Selling 83 company-owned locations in France and the Benelux nations to a franchisee (who is also taking over 177 other locations from other franchisees) and closing their offices in Amsterdam.

I wonder what other countries they will start franchising in.

One of the things that has kept them consistent is they are good at running corporate owned locations...

Actually most of the stores outside the US are licensed stores. Look on page 6:

Starbucks also announced today that they would be laying off approximately 5% of the staff in their corporate offices, mostly in Seattle. This will amount to around 350 employees.
