Not opening the dining room until 9 AM shows this is a half-hearted effort at best. The locations in my area appear to be taking this more seriously opening both service channels at 6 AM. McDonalds offering all day breakfast set the standard for the consumer expectation (you can get a breakfast sandwich all day at Starbucks too) and anyone entering the drive through fast food breakfast business at this point needs to meet that standard to even have a chance. In the case of Wendys, an all day offering is particularly important because if you give people more opportunity to try the breakfast (like, all day) they may like it and then actually come back and purchase it during breakfast hours.Super S wrote: ↑March 13th, 2020, 10:13 pmMaybe they should also try opening the main restaurant when people actually want to eat breakfast. I was at another Wendy's for lunch today, and noticed the dining room at that location also does not open until 9AM. McDonald's went many years without all-day breakfast...storewanderer wrote: ↑March 12th, 2020, 11:38 pm Wendys had a coupon for a free chicken biscuit with purchase so I stopped in the other morning. I went around 9 AM. They open at 6 AM. 4 bored employees. I paid and got my receipt. Wendys receipts list the transaction number which starts at "1" each day. I was transaction "20005" which means the 5th transaction that day inside. Not sure how many transactions they may have processed via drive through but nobody was around while I was there.
The biscuit was on the dry side, the chicken was limp, hot, and soft and had clearly been sitting in holding for a while. The overall taste of the product was very good. I think it may be better than the Chickfila Chicken Biscuit. They dropped some potatoes when I ordered so those came out very fresh.
I do not expect this to be a successful venture.
Maybe if they try all day service they may have a chance.

I've noticed it takes particularly longer at McDonald's to get breakfast items outside of the morning for certain items. Hash browns are cooked to order unlike fries are so if you order them in the afternoon or evening they take a few minutes to fry.

At busy McDonalds locations there are enough people ordering breakfast that they have everything available to assemble the all day offering.
Some slower locations it appears they have to prepare almost every component: toast the bread, cook the egg (in the egg cooker, not on the grill), etc. They seem to usually have sausage held and that must hold for a long, long time.

Something about the economy, Wendys Breakfast launches, and Albertsons IPOs.

Restaurants as a whole are going to suffer with the shift to take out/delivery only in some states. Some weak franchises might already be tempted to throw in the towel.storewanderer wrote: ↑March 17th, 2020, 12:07 amSomething about the economy, Wendys Breakfast launches, and Albertsons IPOs.

I'd make me sick to think about the number of restaurants and other retail locations that have been hanging out and may have to throw in the towel...Super S wrote: ↑March 17th, 2020, 4:05 pmRestaurants as a whole are going to suffer with the shift to take out/delivery only in some states. That is what is unsettling me here in Nevada as well. As we prepare to suspend all gaming activities in the coming hours... yikes. It probably needs to happen to control the spread of this thing, casinos are not a healthy environment with limited doors and the tobacco use, but thinking of the economy, yikes. Also the impact this will have on many small businesses that rely on the revenue from slot machines to survive... mostly small bars. Again not a healthy environment though.Bagels wrote: ↑March 17th, 2020, 5:46 pmI'd make me sick to think about the number of restaurants and other retail locations that have been hanging out and may have to throw in the towel...Super S wrote: ↑March 17th, 2020, 4:05 pmRestaurants as a whole are going to suffer with the shift to take out/delivery only in some states. Many small business (and this includes Wendy's franchisee) were already barely hanging on. As tangible retailers collapsed, we saw the number of restaurants surge, and the trend was already correcting itself even when the economy was at its peak. Rents were swelling faster than revenues, a derivative of investors putting their money into real estate. This whole thing is about to collapse.storewanderer wrote: ↑March 17th, 2020, 11:55 pmThat is what is unsettling me here in Nevada as well. And the worst part is... many businesses are reporting that landlords refuse to work with them. I've experienced this personally -- I live in a Irvine Company apartment complex; it was suppose to be a temporary solution until we moved into a home, but we love it here so much that we've stayed for several years. Our current lease is almost up, and the Irvine Company is proposing a 17%, several hundred dollar per month hike in rent. We just asked if they could work with us on that number and were told a flat "no" -- mind you, most of the people moving here are either international or out-of-state residents relocating for work, and movement in this area has come to a halt.

The Irvine Company is FAMOUS for that and the attitude to go with it.Bagels wrote: ↑March 18th, 2020, 5:48 pmMany small business (and this includes Wendy's franchisee) were already barely hanging on.
