I checked out their web page for ordering and came across one item that caught my eye.
Frozen USDA Choice New York Strip Steak (20/8 oz) $55.95.
If I'm reading that correctly, 20 8 oz. steaks would be $5.60 a pound. That's seems like a really good deal. That's $2.80 a steak!

Re: Restaurants Selling Ingredients
Frozen steaks are usually pretty cheap. Good that it is USDA Choice though.klkla wrote: ↑May 10th, 2020, 11:56 am I checked out their web page for ordering and came across one item that caught my eye.

That's interesting. To be honest I have never seen frozen steaks for sale in a supermarket ever.storewanderer wrote: ↑May 10th, 2020, 12:04 pmFrozen steaks are usually pretty cheap. Re: Restaurants Selling Ingredients
I've seen them at Dollar Tree. I think they were 100% beef. I certainly didn't try them. This was the supplier. http://stampedemeat.com/our-products/beefklkla wrote: ↑May 10th, 2020, 2:42 pmThat's interesting. Also Smart Foodservice has various frozen meat right now (very little fresh meat due to lack of customers lately).

Re: Restaurants Selling Ingredients
Locally, the Landrys restaurants (McCormick & Schmicks Grill, Jake's) have been offering groceries alongside (at least in the case of Jake's) a take home menu.
The prices are not astronomical like Panera / Subway / some of these other operators we've seen. Here's the Jake's price sheet:

Makes sense that the frozen items tend to be more stable, as they can freeze them when the supply is more available and then sell when needed, so you eliminate some of the highs and lows of supplies.klkla wrote: ↑May 10th, 2020, 2:42 pmThat's interesting. But, stores just stick with the "usual" and don't think about the options most times.
Having worked with a company that purchased mostly these types of items from these suppliers, then subdivided them to sell to the public (through businesses and schools as a benefit or fundraising option) you see some unusual things. One of the best had to be one time we got those Sara Lee deli meats (you usually see around the deli area of stores - about 8 oz. and normally $3+ each even a few years back) for... 39 cents a piece! The catch was, they were getting close to sale dates, so they had been frozen (which will allow them to last longer), but since stores don't have a frozen deli meat section, they didn't want them.
Any small store chain could have had a great item to get people in their stores as you could make quite a bit selling something like that while still offering the buyer a big bargain from what they normally pay.

Re: Restaurants Selling Ingredients
Over here, I saw that Anthony's (a regional chain of high-end seafood restaurants) has all their restaurants closed, but is selling their meats and seafood out of a truck that travels between a number of their locations. Prices are a little on the high side for some things, pretty reasonable for others. A price list can be found on their Twitter account:
