I wonder if Ahold Delhaize USA has ways to go to get stores (Food Lion, Hannaford, Giant (Landover, Maryland), Giant (Carlisle, Pennsylvania), Stop & Shop), pharmacy, distribution, and transportation on the same boat.

Some of it probably has to do with union vs non-union drivers and distribution centers. I remember in the 1990s when Giant-MD was expanding into DE, PA and NJ with their Super G stores. They wanted to use local distribution close to the newly stores. The Teamsters who represented Giant's drivers got involved and forced Giant-MD to supply the new stores from the Landover, MD distribution center. Certainly things have changed in the intervening years but it would not surprise me if each operating section of Ahold has some limitations of hauling to each other even if the product is essentially the same.
