Acme Markets to close last Hudson county nj location

Post by maynesg »

Hi, Acme will close this week it!s Jersey City location that has been in business since the late 1950!s, The store is not unprofitable, but was in an area that Acme no longer is in. Acme sold the store to a Fine Fair member that is a sponsored group that purchases groceries from General Trading of Carlstadt N.J.
That is strange considering that Acmes parent Super Valu, is a wholesaler! and that Acme just renovated this store and its is profitable, located in a verry good neihborhood. The answer i got was simple. It is Acme!s most further out store from its Denver Pa distribution center. The cost of advertising for only one store is extremly high and Acme who had once had stores in Union City,Secaucuss, ClifsidePark, Leonia,Teaneck, Lodi, Washington Township,Montvale, Middletown Ny and Port Jervis , as well as several units in Staten Island is not interested in competing in The New York Market. The closest store is 27 seven miles away in Clifton New Jersey in Passaic county.
