Market Basket tweet catches fire, causes a procedure change

Post by SamSpade »

I wish I had much of something to add here, but it was an interesting story. Is this like an old hang over from the "fold over" deli bags before the zippers came into widespread usage? I haven't encountered this at local markets.

Fry's does this routinely here in Arizona.

They sure do. I finally started shopping at the Safeway deli because of that.

Not quite the same, but Hannaford uses stickers on the stuff they pre pack (the grab n go deli section). Most likely so that you can see that no one has bothered it (folded over and stuck so that you couldn't open the zipper without disturbing the sticker), but it can be hard to break the sticker enough to get into the bag, since if you try to peel it off it will often tear the bag (similar to what was mentioned here).

Wow. I've never had any store do this on stuff from the service counter.

Prepack, yes.
