As someone who is familiar with the Giant-MD chain, it's certainly nice to see Ahold Delhaize being lenient on what each chain can do now. Compared to a few years ago they seem to have their own branding and even decor package. While the latter still borrows heavily from the late 2010s norm (gray color scheme, bright LED lights, and faux wood accents) it is somewhat different than what Stop & Shop has been testing.
While it's still very far from the lauded family-owned days of Giant, I hope they can do whatever to break away from all the Ahold/Stop & Shop constraints and hold their position in the D.C. market. After all - at least they split Giant/S&S, where the chain lost a lot of its independent resources (GFS Realty, the executives) among other things.
