I'm guessing there isn't a robust pool of buyers for grocery chains based in Sinaloa.
My recollection is Safeway's deal with Casa Ley had something to do with Magowan and tomatoes.

So, what about Casa Ley?

Re: So, what about Casa Ley?
I saw this in a Ley store in Tijuana this week (yes in December 2024 -- six years after the 49% Safeway ownership was sold off). Anyone have any idea what was happening with Safeway brand products in Ley stores?
I didn't look everywhere, but it was the only Safeway brand product I saw. There were plenty of Ley store brand products.
It was made in Canada. It could have been from a producer that was also supplying Safeway Canada in the pre-Sobeys days -- but it is in separate, Spanish packaging, so I don't understand why they wouldn't have branded it as Ley.

That is the pre- "Safeway Kitchens" packaging.

It appears to be the only Safeway product.
Some sort of trademark preservation deal?
I wonder who the product is distributed by.

Off Topic
What is it about that Safeway S? Really looks nice on anything... but I understand why Albertsons needed to create a new house brand across all their many storefronts. No insight into this Casa Ley situation from me.

I'd bet that product comes from Lassonde. They seem to have all the aseptic production in Canada
