Re: Barneys New York files for bankruptcy
I'm not sure why, but the KOMO story left out the Philadelphia closure. Significant as Barney's is a visible anchor to the Rittenhouse Square retail district in downtown Philadelphia.

Re: Barneys New York files for bankruptcy
Barneys New York was always a weird store, it never expanded out like Macy's/Bloomingdale's or Lord & Taylor did, and when it did expand it was largely too little too late. All of its old sister Fifth Avenue stores all went out of business (Bonwit Teller, B. Altman, etc.) with even Bergdorf Goodman, which is owned by Neiman Marcus.
