Has Fred Meyer outsourced truck drivers?

Post by Super S »

In the past week, I have seen Fred Meyer trailers being pulled by trucks reading "Market Transport" and "Wilson Logistics" on the doors. In the past they simply would read "Fred Meyer" or "Kroger Dedicated Logistics". Which raises the question: Has Fred Meyer outsourced their truck drivers? If so, Is this also happening at other Kroger divisions?

I've seen the Market Transport ones pulling Fred Meyer trailers before. Usually those are used for distant/remote locations. Or to pull FM merchandise down to other divisions outside Fred Meyer (not sure how much that happens anymore, but it still happens to some degree).

I was in Fred Meyer tonight and an ad played over the PA system announcing job openings at the Clackamas distribution center, one position mentioned was truck drivers. So perhaps they are contracting due to a shortage.
