So in the past few days, they opened new Sears Hometown stores in Victoria (near but not in the mall) and in Willowbrook Mall (where the old Sears store was).

...I don't know either.

I will look to clarify it and others, since it is still technically a corporate Sears store.ClownLoach wrote: ↑January 12th, 2022, 11:11 pmCould you please update Honolulu as well? The store is long gone as discussed earlier. They only have a tiny inline mattress and appliance store.submariner wrote: ↑January 12th, 2022, 4:42 pm I updated the list to show the announced closings in Key West and Hamilton, and add Miami on the list which was left out earlier.

Someone has posted some photos from yesterday/today inside the Miami Kmart.
Looks like all the customers and employees left, the lights are burning out, and someone forgot to lock the doors and clear out all the unsold merchandise.
Though there is a holiday display for Pepsi/Lays. I guess they paid the DSD.

Three updates:
Removed the Sears in Media, PA that closed around August '21
Key West Sears to be closing in March, not January as earlier reported: https://keysweekly.com/42/key-west-kmar ... -in-march/
Sears has announced the closing of the last full-line store in PA, at Willow Grove "In 2022": https://www.pennlive.com/news/2022/01/l ... close.html

This store is currently liquidating and will probably be gone by March at the latest. It really isn't a true full line store (Most of the 2nd floor and 3rd floor are leased out to Primark) and has had very little merchandise as it is.

Its weird that they wait a week after liquidation sales have already started to post an article.submariner wrote: ↑January 19th, 2022, 7:04 am

Well, there's nothing in a press release, I think it's purely reliant on someone checking the Sears/Kmart job listings for Temp positions. The jobs were posted on the 10th, same day as the Key West postings and a day after Hamilton.TheBigSmall wrote: ↑January 19th, 2022, 9:18 amIts weird that they wait a week after liquidation sales have already started to post an article.submariner wrote: ↑January 19th, 2022, 7:04 am

Re: 2022: 12 Kmart, 25 Sears stores remain...
For some reason the closure of the Fort Lauderdale Sears yesterday warranted a press release on the corporate website...
https://transformco.com/press-releases/pr/2153
The store closed yesterday; one day notice and no liquidation sale.
It is fascinating to hear their go-forward strategy has been formally announced as it stands in 2022.
"Transformco's go-forward store strategy for Sears and Kmart is to operate a diversified portfolio consisting of a small number of larger, premier stores with a larger number of small format stores – combined with its Shop Your Way rewards program, online marketplace and buy online, pick up in store capabilities. The company will continue to explore both Hometown Stores and Home & Life stores in cities and towns that previously had larger format stores."
At this rate we may be here in 2023 waiting for the last 3 Kmarts and last 4 full line Sears to finally close.

WOW, that's a surprise! I'll update the list.

Re: 2022: 12 Kmart, 25 Sears stores remain...
It is not very common, but there are sometimes transactions where the retailer sells off the facility, or the lease, including the merchandise. If the buyer really, really wants it bad - sometimes they'll take that deal and then they can do what they want with the merchandise. Usually they sell it to a liquidator who will haul it away for future sale elsewhere. That's why sometimes you'll see a liquidation of a store where suddenly new merchandise has been brought in that the retailer never sold before...storewanderer wrote: ↑January 22nd, 2022, 11:53 am For some reason the closure of the Fort Lauderdale Sears yesterday warranted a press release on the corporate website...

Or the theory that the liquidators are already merchandising the stores might hold up here too - they could just pack their stuff and take it elsewhere if the new owner wants the building vacated ASAP.
