There is a Coco's in Dublin, California near a Target that closed down years ago, but it has been kept in pristine condition. Someone even mows the lawn. If someone is paying the rent, they might as well open up some kind of restaurant in its place.

Empty restaurants in very affluent rich suburbs are a waste. There are plenty of rich people looking for new places to eat.

Was the food at Coco's that bad?

Coco's had better food than Denny's or IHOP, but the entree food wasn't as good (not trying to imply Marie Callendar's entree food was good here... but would call it a couple steps above Denny's or IHOP) as Marie Callendar's.

It had a pie program similar but not as good as Marie Callendar's.

Coco's was basically a copy of Baker's Square, but the pie wasn't as good.

This is a confusing post.

The shopping center in Dublin with the Target as anchor has an abandoned Toys R Us with the signs still up as well as a Coco's restaurant with the signs still up. The Toys R Us signs light up at night and when you look inside you can still see everything that Toys R Us left behind. Someone left all the lights on inside. Everything is the same as the day it closed: shelves, shopping carts, equipment... To this day many people walk up to the store thinking that it is still open.

The Coco's looks very well preserved and someone keeps the restaurant's landscaping neatly manicured.

Coco's had a following. I don't know why but my sister's friends loved the place and always wanted to get their pies. There are many other places that they can go to.

Don't remember which was the last local carrows location standing, but I remember eating at the Citrus Heights location (long demolished for a KFC turned Burger King) multiple times and likely ate at the Roseville North Sunrise one at least once, all instances in my childhood.I also remember seeing a location in North Highlands, maybe a Rancho Cordova location as well.

Ironically carrows began in the bay area.

Citrus Heights and Lodi were the only two Coco's I ever saw in NorCal (wasn't looking in the bay area).

Lodi one was a newer era (probably mid 90's) building and got demolished for a Farmer Boys.

I find it funny the last open Carrows isn't even an original Carrows but a converted Bob's Big Boy. Sad decline for the chain. Carrows had a nicer/larger restaurant design than the typical IHOP, Denny's, or Bob's back in the late 70's or early 80's when a lot of these were built.
