Albertsons and Safeway sure have weird and inconsistent by region Christmas hours. I expect a lot of this weird stuff will stop if Kroger buys them as I think Kroger is 100% closed on 12/25 save for gas pumps being turned on.
NorCal has most stores closing 12/24 at 7 PM then open 8 AM to 5 PM on 12/25 but some locations are closed 12/25. Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, Kings Beach, Zephyr Cove, and South Reno are all open 24 hours 12/24 and 12/25 as usual not closing at any point. Save Mart discontinued being open on Christmas years ago and Raleys has never opened on Christmas.
SoCal seems to have most stores closing 12/24 at 9 PM then open 9-3 on 12/25. This 9-3 operating hours on 12/25 seems very reasonable and good hours to have.
Las Vegas/Phoenix/El Paso is interesting. Typically they close at 10 PM at these locations, which is too early. On 12/24 they have extended hours to close at Midnight on 12/24 in Las Vegas and close at 11 PM in Phoenix/El Paso. Then they are closed 12/25.
Denver seems to be closing 12/24 at 6 PM and then closed 12/25.
Intermountain (ID, MT, WY, etc.) is closing 12/24 at 5 PM then closed 12/25.
Seattle seems to be closing 12/24 at 6:30 PM or 7:00 PM then open 12/25 8-5 at what appears to be basically all locations.
Portland closes 12/24 at 7 PM and is closed 12/25.
Strange to see such inconsistency on region for being open vs. closed 12/25 and the 12/24 closing time.

Re: Albertsons/Safeway and weird Christmas Hours
Not sure that I ever remember any of the local supermarkets being open on Christmas.
Some of the chains did often do a part day for Thanksgiving, and of course for Christmas Eve.
That would apply both to NY (Albany area) and NJ (as we were often down there for Christmas Eve and would see the listings while visiting stores for the different brands and deals).

Re: Albertsons/Safeway and weird Christmas Hours
Hate to say that Reno Store that was open 24 hours on 12/25, probably had 25-30 customers shopping at around 7 PM. Transactions did seem to be pretty small. Store was stocked great except liquor which had been hit hard. Pretty surprised with the amount of traffic.
