Smiths expanding store hours June 1

Smiths has blue background/white print signs (for reference purposes typically Smiths signs would be red background/white print) that say NEW EXTENDED STORE HOURS 6 AM to MIDNIGHT EFFECTIVE JUNE 1.

Previously Smiths was closing at 11 PM.

I wonder what prompted this. Wal Mart as far as I know is still closing at 11 PM.

Safeway is 24 hours in Reno/Tahoe at most locations but that seems to be quite a unique thing and very few other stores in Albertsons corporation are 24 hours at this point. The Vons in Mammoth Lakes (SoCal Division) is Open 24 Hours also.

Definitely unique! Even in my recent Las Vegas visit, other than on an old (clearly missed in the change) sign, Vons was 6 am to 11 pm.

Last month most of the Las Vegas Albertsons/Vons were still closing at 10 PM. One location with a gas station, the gas station closed at 11 PM. Smiths had a hard 11 PM closing in Las Vegas too.

I am surprised in a place like Las Vegas they don't keep a store or two open 24 hours.
