Allen Park, MI police: 5 shoplifting incidents at Meijer in 1 month! (plus other shoplifting incidents)

https://www.thenewsherald.com/2024/01/0 ... jer-store/ (paywall alert!)

Between November 21 and December 21, five different shoplifting incidents were reported at the Meijer store in Allen Park, plus shoplifting incidents at the Detroit suburb's Old Navy and Rite Aid stores that occurred during that one-month timeframe.

And just two days after December 21 and two days before Christmas, the Target across Fairlane Drive from the Meijer also experienced a shoplifting incident by a woman who claimed she had "no money for gifts."

Meijer, Target and Old Navy are at the city's main big box area (known locally as "The Hill"), while Rite Aid is over a mile away in the downtown area. To have so many shoplifting incidents in one middle-class city in the span of one month is very shocking. However, this may not be surprising Allen Park is a first-to-second ring suburb of Detroit.

Five reported because they were large enough to be noticed and/or large enough that the PD was willing to take a report. I don't care how nice the neighborhood is, these stores have five shoplifting incidents an hour... The question is whether anyone notices or not.
