The Lucky most likely would have stayed. It did pretty good business being in a very popular downtown area.

There is a nearly identical twin to this store one city over in Concord, California. It also opened as an Albertsons, but with an identical Jewel Osco interior. Every aisle was the same in layout.

It is still open as a Lucky, although it was remodeled into the new Lucky decor. It actually looks quite nice.

That era with those huge Albertsons stores was actually a good time for supermarket decor. The Jewel interior was very nice looking and the store was so pleasant to shop in. Starbucks was something that people in the San Francisco Bay Area had never seen inside of a supermarket. Longs Drugs saw this and started adding Seattle's Best Coffee cafes to its stores a few years later.

At the time, Albertsons was selling televisions. My parents bought a TV from the Pleasant Hill Albertsons since it was such a good price.
