Coca-Cola Spiced a flop

Post by Brian Lutz »

Although it was touted as a "permanent" new product at the time it was launched, after six months Coca Cola Spiced has been discontinued, having failed to make an impact with its intended audience. I only tried it once as a free sample, and couldn't quite place the taste, but it wasn't anything I really cared for. I also noted that when I was up in Seattle for work last week the drink fridge at my employer's office contained a fair amount of the stuff, while other flavors disappeared much more quickly.

I have not had any of these new Coca-Cola flavors that were not terrible. At first they were getting some traction as customers would try out the new varieties, but now I think they're going too extreme (Oreo Coke) and the customers are tired of being burned by these gross flavors. They need to stick to the basics and improve the in-stocks of their core products. Seeing too many situations where a store runs out of Diet Coke or Coke Zero and is waiting for days for the bottler to deliver more. I never see out of stocks on Pepsi products these days even if they are at a blowout price. Yes, you could attribute that to sales rate but again Coke Zero being out of stock at regular shelf price in a Kroger or Albertsons store should not happen.

I heard the spice is a spiced-raspberry flavor. I never really saw It much at 7-11 or AMPM. I was curious to try but generally I don't like spiced sodas.

As for the Oreo, I heard it tastes like chocolate creme. My coworker said it was really good. I haven't seen it anywhere outside of the markets though as its been sold out everywhere.

I spit it out immediately. Gross. Super sugar sweet.

Got a free can of the Oreo at Quik Trip, with their order food (ice cream) in app and "drink HQ" offer.

Chocolate cream is an accurate description. I can barely drink soda anymore due to the sweetness level and this stuff took it to another level.

Not sure what Coke is doing with these weird flavors. I am interested to try all of them since free offers often pop up somewhere, and one sip is it for me.

Coca-Cola is trying out daring flavors just to get people to buy more. Eventually, people get tired and they will discontinue it and move on to a new flavors. I tried the Oreo Coca-Cola Slurpee and I felt very dizzy and nauseated a short time later. I normally don't get sick from food or drink, but this one really made me ill. Perhaps it was the artificial sweeteners, but I was so dizzy I almost fell over. Did someone put something in the Slurpee machine? Or did they not clean the disinfectant out of the machine?

I didn't like the flavor. It tasted like rancid soda or something.
