Cybersecurity breach at Ahold Delhaize US banners

Post by cathandler »

Hannaford hardest hit online (their website has been down for more than a week) while Stop & Shop has been struggling to keep fresh foods on the shelves. Corporate has been tight-lipped about the nature and extent of the breach including whether customer information has been compromised. The feds have been contacted.

Aren't Hannaford and Food Lion on entirely different systems/IT/loyalty programs from Ahold?

Or did they integrate them over to the Ahold systems/loyalty?

I haven't been in Stop and Shop territory since Christmas 2019. At that time, Giant-MD and Stop and Shop's loyalty cards were interchangeable. Giant-PA/Martins and Food Lion run their own seperate loyalty cards. Hannaford's web site is still down. However, Giant-MD, Giant-PA/Martins and Food Lion all have very similar web sites and apps. The back end must be integrated even if the loyalty systems are different. When @marketreportblog posted in the turkey prices thread earlier this week about the cyberattack, along with the turkey prices, all of the Ahold/Delhaize web sites and apps except Giant-MD were down. Now it seems only Hannaford is offline.

Actually, the Giant (MD & PA) and Stop & Shop sites had much less issue, if any. The complaints came from the Food Lion and Hannaford sites.

Even then, some things did work, such as the pharmacy site for Hannaford, which was fine on Thursday a week ago even though the main site hasn't been - you just had to know the link for it (or have saved it).

Actually, the Stop & Shop site looks quite like the Giant one (at least PA Giant) as well.

Hannaford had yet another disruption of its online operations which appears to have been resolved. This one may or may not be related to the earlier incident. As with the cybersecurity breach, the company isn't providing details.
