They are moving pretty fast. Will open a small group of stores next month. Some are not yet closed by the old Big Lots.

Re: Big Lots Reopenings by Roses
I'm calling it now. These are Roses by another name. Now the question is, will the stink be just as bad as a regular Roses? The stores will remain closed for a period of time before then so Variety Wholesalers can perform necessary work, which includes cleaning the locations, as well as remodeling the stores and bringing in new categories of merchandise.

Supposedly furniture is being replaced by clothing.HoustonRetail wrote: ↑March 10th, 2025, 9:10 pmI'm calling it now. These are Roses by another name. It seemed like Roses just kept the Kmart popcorn odor if the Roses was a former Kmart. I think it is impossible to get it out of the buildings. I think the Big Lots will be safe from this issue.
Why even keep the Big Lots name if it will just be Roses? Cheaper than buying new signs I guess.

Seems there are also reports of some areas where both are staying and relatively close to each other. With the two names, that may serve to keep people going to both to see what may be different between them (if there is something, which they may well have some differences).storewanderer wrote: ↑March 11th, 2025, 12:48 amSupposedly furniture is being replaced by clothing.HoustonRetail wrote: ↑March 10th, 2025, 9:10 pmI'm calling it now. Roses doesn't have a large amount of name recognition outside the southeast. Big Lots is a bigger name, and like Ollie's, does the same thing that they once were known for - and that abandoning caused their death.
I'll be interested to see how well the BL name does for them.
