Re: CVS To Open Small Format Drugstores
I wonder if any of these will be shrunk down regular locations. They've been trying that in a few markets, leasing the former store space to clinics.Alpha8472 wrote: ↑March 12th, 2025, 8:15 pm A dozen or more 5,000 square feet or less stores will be opened.

Re: CVS To Open Small Format Drugstores
I've been saying these chains need to do this.
As rapidly as they can exit leases.
I'd like to see consolidations of multiple stores into a single 5k square foot pharmacy that is well staffed, doesn't close for lunch, more robotic fill equipment, has longer hours, has dedicated vaccine staff for those who want them, and has a strong drug inventory on hand at all times. I think this could really help their image.

Re: CVS To Open Small Format Drugstores
Oddly, they've recently closed a couple stores just a bit larger than these in DC. Both were locations with a lot of daytime foot traffic, and employment which is where you'd expect small stores to generate volume. One had limited hours, the other didn't as it also had foot traffic in the evening.

Re: CVS To Open Small Format Drugstores
Some of the existing larger drugstores could be downsized and the excess space leased out to others. Might be a faster way to downsize and make some money off the space. In the old days, I would have said a bank or cell phone store would have been a complementary tenant. Not sure who would be the ideal co-tenant today.storewanderer wrote: ↑March 13th, 2025, 1:43 am I've been saying these chains need to do this.

I was going to give you credit for this idea when I read about it but came to the conversation late.storewanderer wrote: ↑March 13th, 2025, 1:43 am I've been saying these chains need to do this.

Does Walmart still have nail salons and hair salons? Macy's and JCPenney used to have beauty salons. JCPenney used to have Optical and eye doctors. Are those still around?
Sears had Watch Repair, Tax Service, and a Dentist.

And an Allstate insurance office. Remember Sears Savings Bank? They had offices in Sears.Alpha8472 wrote: ↑March 13th, 2025, 1:19 pmFor tenants: Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Warby Parker, Eye Doctor, Nail Salon, Hair Salon.babs wrote: ↑March 13th, 2025, 6:25 amSome of the existing larger drugstores could be downsized and the excess space leased out to others. Yes, the Sears Financial Center...Allstate, Dean Witter, and Coldwell Banker! I'm sure it made sense to someone at that time but sure looks like an odd combo in a department store today.jamcool wrote: ↑March 13th, 2025, 3:20 pmAnd an Allstate insurance office.
