I don't understand why they are still closing one by one at this point. Just shut it all down.
Milk it to the last drop.

Closing date is April 17th, 2022.
A more aggressive timeframe, interesting.

Or are more sudden closures forthcoming?

If the next user of the site wants the site quickly, it could be closed tomorrow and emptied out next week (as we saw with that Fort Lauderdale Sears closed recently, or one of the NYC Kmarts last year).

I suppose when they are down to one domestic store per brand we will make a safe assumption they have to do a liquidation sale because at that point there will be nowhere left to send the stuff.

I think Guam/Virgin Islands will last a bit longer, but, anything is possible.

At this rate it is appearing like Kmart and Sears may see 2023.

The whole Hometown/Hometown Plus "reopenings" complicate the liquidation processes of Kmart quite a bit. Wonder if it will close as Kmart then "reopen" as Sears Hometown Plus a bit later.

So far just one unit has reopened as Hometown Plus I think? Are there other Hometown Plus units planned?

I don't know about Hometown Plus but the Hometown stores opening under Transformco is...strange, to say the least. The Willowbrook Mall store (in Houston) recently got new Sears Hometown signage on the outside (inside the Sears signage was restored).

Latest from the Greensboro Deathwatch. This store is still fully "open" (whatever that means now) and now features:

1. An ongoing fixture liquidation
2. Mattresses and damaged appliances now conveniently located on BOTH levels
3. Lots of clothing with Kmart price tags
4. Ugly Christmas sweaters galore

Goodness those Christmas sweaters are golden oldies----I got a couple 5 years ago at a closing for $2/90% off and still use them!

I really can't see how these stores are surviving when all that's left is basically picked-over crap that would be expected during the last couple weeks at the most of a liquidation sale. Maybe this is what will determine closures going forward...whittle inventory low enough to close a store and load it into a store that is still open hoping somebody else will buy it.

As far as I am concerned, Sears and Kmart are finished. I won't be making purchases at the Hometown stores or whatever other "format of the minute" they try next. This company is no longer taking their business seriously.
