It's over. The Vons in Coronado, CA; a former gable Safeway, shed the interior package it's had since the Vons takeover in 1988. Now sporting a tastefully done Lifestyle decor, the store can now compete with the "PF&H" remodeled Albertsons sharing the island.
Department wise, the Vons had only one service counter, in the form of a very small deli island haphazardly constructed in the middle of the store's sales floor. Among the typical equipment upgrades, the remodel rearranged the meats section and now includes a much larger deli, signature café, and seafood counter. The former deli space is occupied by a new floral counter. See the complete collection in my photostream:
