Never seen that in a Safeway, but I have seen that in some Trader Joe's stores around here.

Re: Two New Safeway Decor Packages
The Safeway Flagship in Dublin, California has finished remodeling and it has the street names on the aisle signs. The remodeling crew has moved on to the nearby Lifestyle Safeway in San Ramon which has not been remodeled since about 2003. The strangest part of the remodel was the restroom. It reminds me of a Walmart bathroom now. The Flagship used to have interesting tile work in the bathroom, but now they got rid of it for white tiles and an ugly vinyl floor. The stalls are all cheap metal just like Walmart stalls.

That's the decor from right before Lifestyle. That's what the Hillsboro (Sunset Esplanade) store had until recently.
So, it may be on the radar, but maybe like Idaho Falls was for Kroger/Fred Meyer, not urgent.
Speaking of the Newberg Safeway, isn't Fred Meyer almost directly across? I seem to remember it's really a busy store.

Yep, directly across 99W from Freddy’s. It’s always busy.SamSpade wrote: ↑October 28th, 2021, 9:45 am That's the decor from right before Lifestyle. That's what the Hillsboro (Sunset Esplanade) store had until recently.

Interesting that they spent all that money and didn't do anything with the flooring. That Lifestyle flooring doesn't age well.Alpha8472 wrote: ↑October 28th, 2021, 1:38 am The Safeway Flagship in Dublin, California has finished remodeling and it has the street names on the aisle signs. The floor tiles are not very durable. They have gouges and scratches all over them. I have no idea why they picked such low quality tiles. The fake wood planks in Produce are a mismatch of old and replaced planks. It looks so bad. They need to just start over or do what Save Mart does. Save Mart put in faux wood floors throughout their remodeled stores. They look good and seem to be very durable.

And with that kind of tile, bright lighting only serves to make every bump and depression in the flooring even more noticeable making it look twice as bad.

Re: Two New Safeway Decor Packages
The floors around the perimeter of the Lifestyle Stores (tan tiles) are generally very thin tiles like paper thin. There was a rule in place when they put them in, that no pallets could go out onto the sales floor (because pallets would literally shred the tiles due to how cheap they were). Of course that was 15 years ago and a lot of employees and a lot of vendors from day to day have a need to pull pallets out onto sales floors and such a rule was not very practical for anyone.Alpha8472 wrote: ↑October 31st, 2021, 6:14 pm The floor tiles are not very durable. Save Mart's faux wood flooring looks okay; it kind of darkens the store up. Holiday does that too in its remodels and so has Raleys. Raleys in a couple cases did cement floors in remodels then put that dark faux wood in a few years later due to how bad the cement looked. The faux wood looks much much better than cement.
