Sanitation nightmare. For meat I am not so concerned because you cook it all the way and most likely any suspicious germs get killed. It is things like deli salads and such where I find this to be a sanitation nightmare.

I do see some stores promoting small reusable canvas bags for bulk foods. Again since that is mostly dry product (not sure how it would work with, say, sticky bulk dates or sour gummy worms), it is probably okay. Then again, given the sanitation risks already with bulk food in open bins with detached scoops that can fall onto the floor, this is probably not a big deal.

Kind of off topic, but in 2000, Metro was up for sale. Albertsons and Kroger actually had their eyes on them back then. Metro was eventually taken off the sale block as they couldn't find a buyer.
