What Sears did was what drove OSH into bankruptcy the first time and then enabled it to go into the hands of Lowe's. OSH was a very profitable business unit (independently managed by its own management team all along) for Sears, back in the 90's. I believe Sears attempted to expand OSH outside California at some point as well and failed. Lowe's should have learned from that mistake, but they were too arrogant.

I'm not aware of any OSH stores outside California when Sears owned them. They expanded to Portland after they went public and split from Sears. The Florida stores were added when Lowe's owned them.

Well, it turns out it IS an appliance-centric store --- but with a twist. It's
their first OUTLET store, with appliances that have "issues."
