If you want a French bakery product to survive a transatlantic journey, compromises have to be made.

You just can't beat the selection at this chain, or the pricing, on center store items especially. This is the type of item to seek out at this chain.
Shaw's also has a "Polar aisle," It's a New England thing. Fun fact: Market Basket private label soda is bottled by Polar.
Giant PA also had a good amount of Polar product. Not as much at Giant MD and very little at Safeway DC (typical lousy regional merchandising Safeway does). Winn Dixie in FL (who Polar also does some private label for- only Seltzer, not all soda) has more Polar than Safeway East does. Albertsons in Idaho also has more Polar than Safeway East has (how pathetic)- they have an entire three foot top to bottom shelf space on every soda aisle.

Winn-Dixie sold their soft drink bottling plant in Georgia to Polar in 2011, with the company getting a contract for five years to manufacture Chek soft drinks. I'm not sure if they still do.
