Target hours are unchanged in the San Francisco Bay Area. The San Francisco stores still close at 6 PM and the suburban stores close at 10 PM.

Walmart also seems to open earlier on Black Friday at 5 AM vs the regular 6 AM opening time. Closing times remain the same. Late night is the time for mob robberies. Stores these days want to close early. Most shoppers will procrastinate if they hear that stores will be open Late. They will hit Macy's last if it closes at midnight. The winners are the stores that open early. The customers flock to the early hour stores and shop like crazy. You end being too tired to shop at Macy's near midnight.

When they recruit these young mob shoplifters, they usually get unemployed young people who are not used to getting up early. Mob robberies at 5 am are not easy to organize. Macy's just before a midnight closing is prime time for a mob robbery.
