Zellers is back

Post by SamSpade »

Oh, Canada...
(or really "The Bay" )
Zellers is back... sort of
Is this to keep the service mark active as intellectual property in the HBC?
It's the return of Zellers. The Hudson's Bay Company has dusted off its old trademark and opened up a pop-up shop in Burlington, Ontario with the discount store branding.

Could the lowest price be the law once more? Anis Heydari ventured into the world of big red Z's to find out.

Looks like they saw the somewhat success of Macy's Backstage and decided to give it a try using the Zeller's brand.

Zeller's was a tarnished brand. People hated their dirty stores and terrible customer service. People were glad to see the stores turning into Target at first. However, Target had high prices and empty shelves. If they can run this pop up store inside of a store properly, perhaps it might be successful at bringing in some customer traffic. However, the return of full sized Zeller's store will be highly unlikely.
