Another closure- 2225 Oddie Blvd. in Sparks, NV. Appears to have closed today.
That marks the end of Family Dollar in Reno/Sparks.
Good riddance.
Will be interesting to see how long the Dollar Tree units hang on. Some have retained traffic after the price increase but others have not.

Dollar Tree in the San Francisco Bay Area seems to be losing business. People used to shop like crazy and buy tons of stuff because it was only a dollar. Now with gas prices so high, people are being frugal. They might buy just essentials such as food.

I noticed Dollar Tree is seeing more theft. There are now security guards at the front doors. Dollar Tree is now trying to control theft. You cannot remove shopping carts from the store. The wheels lock up at the door. The security guards look like off duty police with bullet proof vests.

There was a Dollar Tree in Reno on Keystone Ave. for a while, it was a former 98 Cents Clearance Center in a very old building. It actually went out of business due to low average transaction amount and due to theft. This was probably 15 years ago now. Theft has never really been much of a consideration/issue for Dollar Tree because yes, there is theft, but the value per item is so low...

I can see how adding higher priced items (Dollar Tree Plus) increases risk/theft and they have to take more precautions than before. Have to wonder if the increased revenue is worth it...
