The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) filed a motion seeking bankruptcy court approval to close an additional 32 stores. If approved, A&P intends to close the stores by April 30th and turn them over to their respective landlords.

The 32 stores selected for closure are:

Smithtown Waldbaum's was a former Pathmark and Grand Union. I wonder what it will become now? There's a Stop & Shop down the road, although I doubt that had a hand in its closing as much as the Hauppauge Shoprite or the Uncle Giuseppe's right around the block from the Waldbaum's.
