"Sneakerhead" culture is real here is Los Angeles. I have several friends of modest means with surprisingly large, extensive sneaker collections. eBay is facing stiff competition from platforms like StockX and GOAT, so they are probably doing this for the check-ins and tags on social media to get their name in front of the sneakerheads and hypebeasts. Not a bad idea IMO; those groups spend $$$ on lots of stuff eBay sells.

Yeah people I know do this too, paying $300 or more for a pair of sneakers and then reselling later. It's strange to me, and I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing shoes like that, but then I don't have the means they do.
