Hopefully this helps Rosauers. It will likely draw more people to the area, keep some folks who live there from driving down to Vancouver to do weekend shopping.

Costco opened a gas station a few months ago at an existing Costco that never had gas before. The new Costco gas station is really huge. The new station has a capacity of 32 cars filling up all at once with 8 lanes. The lanes are so spacious that you can easily move around the parked cars that are fueling.
I also noticed that the gas canopy is a cheap metal canopy now. It is sort of like a warehouse ceiling that is unfinished. I assume that it is cheaper.
Costco has no room to expand in Danville, California so they bought an Office Depot across the street in the city of San Ramon and turned it into a gas station. Now the Costco stretches across two cities.
Costco is really opening up new stores close to existing ones. They are also opening up one in Pleasanton, California which is only a short drive away from two other Costco stores in Danville and Livermore, California. The company is so successful that if you build a Costco in every city, there will still be enough people to fill it up. Are there any cities with multiple Costco's in one city?

Costco is in the unique position of having that membership data and seeing exactly where its customers are coming from. They can model the flow of customers and determine exactly where a new store makes sense and forecast how it will impact existing stores.Alpha8472 wrote: ↑July 20th, 2022, 11:53 pm

I think Costco has a pretty successful tract record and rarely closes stores for lack of traffic reasons.

Costco has been rumored to be interested in opening in Longview-Kelso, most recently at a proposed location at Exit 36 several years back. The development ultimately fizzled out because of permitting issues with the City of Kelso, after a lot of money was spent re-configuring the exit to accommodate the new development, even installing a few new traffic signals which ended up never being used. The property is vacant to this day.storewanderer wrote: ↑July 21st, 2022, 12:23 amCostco is in the unique position of having that membership data and seeing exactly where its customers are coming from. The store in Warrenton gets a lot of business from Longview-Kelso as does the Clark County and Portland stores. I personally like the Warrenton location as it is generally less crowded and the lack of sales tax.
