Bread as a side item makes a lot more sense with the "pick two" deal when you get soup. I actually like the baguette option reasonably well, but don't go there too often.

With soup it makes perfect sense.

Past couple times the baguette was not very fresh and seemed rather rubbery.

They just figured it is easier to offer the same sides with everything they sell, and let people choose what makes sense to them, I guess.
