Well, we have our first Sonic closure in my area it appears. The Minden, NV Sonic appears to have gone out of business at some point between Friday and today.
What is interesting is it was open Friday until 9 PM. Previously it had been not opening at all some days, closing at 4 PM some days, etc. Not clear what day exactly it closed. Not surprised it closed.
They have so far removed all promotional signage and removed the menus from the carhop stalls. The equipment is still mostly or all inside, point of sale is hooked up, and all signs are still up. Maybe they are trying to find a different operator.
Tough to run a business when it doesn't open during meal periods. Expecting a few other fast food chains, specifically burger chains, to lose some locations due to operating their franchise businesses like this for the past 2 years.

That is an bsolutely terrible operator. Sonic needs to find someone who actually cares about running a good restaurant. Perhaps they need to attract more reliable employees by increasing wages. Restaurant workers get paid so little that you can't find reliable people who will show up.
There was talk about how restaurant workers could not find housing in the area.

Not sure how much Inspire Brands has changed things with Sonic franchising as of yet. Interesting that the same operator just opened a Rusty Taco in Reno.Alpha8472 wrote: ↑November 10th, 2022, 1:01 pm That is an bsolutely terrible operator. What is odd is the Minden Sonic still shows up on the Sonic Website as if it is an open active location even accepting online orders.bryceleinan wrote: ↑November 14th, 2022, 1:53 pmNot sure how much Inspire Brands has changed things with Sonic franchising as of yet. The Rusty Taco is sure getting mixed reviews. I probably need to go try it. I'm not happy the pizza place is gone.
