Cub Foods- Strike

Post by storewanderer »

Not clear if this is all of the Cub, the corporate ones only (what it appears) or some franchise ones too.

I wonder what the new proposed wage chart for part time employees is... sounds like a load of.. to me.

These unions are very short sighted allowing this third rate treatment of new and or part time employees. Those individuals are the future of the union long term.

Does Cub still run franchise stores, especially outside MN/IL?

Kroger wouldn't succeed at buying Cub; many Cub stores are franchised. That's also the reason why Giant Eagle hasn't been sold yet.

Supervalu usually only would sell to someone who would keep using them as a supplier. The franchise Cub units could have continued.

Kroger could have rebannered the corporate stores to Kroger. It would have been fine. Kroger's pricing is similar to Cub, and Kroger has similar "so so" quality fresh products as Cub. I do really like Supervalu's private label program but it is not as good as Kroger (it is close...).

Kroger went into the Twin Cities during the 60s-and left very quickly.

I didn't think they had any franchise stores in Minnesota. Is there a list of franchised stores somewhere?

No list that I know of. You can tell if you go to the locations the ones that are franchised by Jerrys.

I think Jerrys is the only franchisee and I don't think they offer franchises anymore.
